Truly Test Kitchen @ Kampong Ampat

Finally! My secondary school clique decided to have a short meet up on a Saturday morning for lunch! Since i've been busy with school and a short break is what i needed. And when it comes to lunch with my clique, i knew i'll be in for a good time!

Hence, they planned to have lunch at the warehouse located at Jun Jie Industrial Building. My first thought was, i've never had my lunch at an industrial building and thinking that the food there wouldn't be to my liking.

So we took a train down to TaiSeng (Circle Line) and followed the direction on google maps to our destination. It was a long route in. Therefore,  i recommend you to take a cab or bus there.

Upon reaching the store, it wasn't a restaurant or a cafe with air conditioned that i was hoping for after a long walk, but its actually a canteen! Where they sell their famous curry rice, western stall, Yong Tau Foo Stall, etc.

Sweating like pigs, we chose a table near the fan and proceed to order our food. I decided to try the western stall and i've ordered a curry pork cutlet pasta. While my friends tried their noodles and also their curry rice!

Thank god we have arrived earlier as the lunch crowd begins to sip in.

This is what we had ordered! Its really cheap and the portion is HUGE!

My dish is covered with cheese :P

Pork chop

Noodles (wasn't really good)

Curry rice just 3bucks!

Avg per pax $3.50

Scissor-Cut Curry Rice @ Jalan Besar

One of my favourite local cafeteria is this Beach Road Scissors-Cut Curry Rice! Located at 229 Jalan Besar.

It seems like a normal mixed vegetable rice stall, however before stepping into the stall, you may wonder why are you hearing the sound of scissors snipping away, no its not someone getting a haircut but its actually someone using the scissors to cut the dishes into bitesize which you have picked.

This is a very unique and traditional hainanese cuisine. Everyday without fail, you will see long queues of people waiting in line. It is also quite popular for teenagers to come and have their supper fixed cause they are open from 11am-3am daily.

This is their menu

While choosing the dishes i want, the guy will start cutting my meats away...
After that another guy will pour their special curry and gravy over my food

Tadaaaa!!! This is the end product, and dont judge the looks by its cover! Its taste pretty good as their gravy really mix well with the ingredients!

Their stall is just a stone throw away from City Square Mall which takes you around 6mins of walking.

Avg $4.50 per pax
