Koung's Wan Tan Mee @ Geylang

This is one of my favourite place to eat whenever i have difficulty deciding on what to have for dinner.

Koung's Wan Tan Mee stall is situated at Geylang Lorang 13. It is closed on Monday and they begin business from 7:30am to 9:30pm. Most of the time they are shorthanded, therefore you have to wait for around 10-15mins for your food.

It is self service and you have to wait for your collection number.

Waiting...

15mins later, my number got called out and this is my set for 2 with my dad :D

Wan tan mee or some people called it wanton noodle have their unique ketchup sauce mixed with the noodles.

Wanton are actually the dumplings found in the soup. Some wanton are pork/prawn filled.

So we ordered 2x sets (add extra meat (barbequed pork) and noodles) and a plate of vegetables.

What you see on top of the vegetables are actually fried pork fats and oyster sauce which brings out the flavour of the dish.

This entire dinner cost us a total of S$17. I must say its really filling dinner for the both of us.

Stay tune as next i will be posting some food reviews from Hong Kong :P

Salted Egg Chicken Rice @ Sim Lim Square

This amazing dish Salted Egg Chicken rice was recommended to me by Andric, which is located at Sim Lim Square. So i went down there on a Sunday morning around 10am expecting to skip the peak hours, however i was wrong! Their stall is open, but their signature dish which is their Salted Egg Chicken Rice is only available at 12noon. Hence, instead of wasting time, me and my childhood friend decided to catch a movie: Kung Fu Panda 3. Hilarious and also a morale gaining movie, i definitely recommend you guys to watch it too haha!
Okay so we headed back to Sim Lim Square around 3-4pm after a good movie and surprising there is still a handful of people ordering and chit chatting.
Situated at level 2 unit number #02-04.
They also sell other dishes but their Salted Egg Chicken Rice is worth to die for!!

So this is what i had! You can even smell the distinctive smell of salted egg wafting through the air even before they are served to you, amazing xD Will be back to try the other dishes!

Avg Per Pax $4.50

Sungei Road Laksa

If you were to crave for a bowl of Laksa, Sungei Road Laksa is the best place to satisfy your cravings. Located at Block 27 Jalan Berseh Coffeeshop. Expect long queues during peak periods, hence i always have it during my tea breaks around 3-4pm haha!

I ordered the large bowl which is $4, they uses fresh ingredients like the coconut milk, cockles and fish cakes. The soup is so good that i cleared the entire bowl xD

They are closed every Wednesday and are opened from 9:30am - 5:00pm.

Avg per pax $3.50

Laksa is a Singapore dish which includes thick rice noodles (bee hoon) in a coconut curry gravy with prawn and egg. Sometimes chicken, tau pok (beancurd puffs) or fish cake may be added.

The Beef House @ Jalan Besar

Situated at the cross junction of 217 Syed Alwi Road,(Jalan Besar)  Gar Lok Eating House. This famous Authentic Hakka Beef ball noodle store is one of the best which been around for more than 10years. Its usually packed during the peak hours and their service is really slow. (sometimes they will miss out on your orders)

They are open on all days except Fridays.
They do sell Yong Tau Foo, however one of their highlight dish is their beef noodles (soup/dry) both are delicious. Owner of the store refer me as Obama, cause he say i looks like him.... LOL.

This is my favourite dish,  the beef ball nicknamed the "Bouncy Beef Ping Pong Balls". This beef balls are chewy and dipping it into their signature sauce really brings out the full flavour in your mouth.

Avg price per pax : $4

Breakfast Set

So what kind of standard breakfast do you have every morning? Well for me, ever since the beginning of the 2nd year of my studies in Temasek Poly , every morning I have always been to my school's canteen for breakfast and order breakfast set without fail. Until now whenever the store auntie sees me from afar she will start preparing my breakfast how the way i wanted, like the drink (Teh C) and the peanut butter spread on my toast.

So this is what i have every morning before classes. Includes peanut butter toast bread, teh C and 2 half boiled eggs

1) Are you a dark sauce or a pepper to go with your eggs person?

Well i love to have lots of pepper and 3 drops of dark sauce to go with my egg, this is my "style"

Well others may like dark sauce over pepper taking for example my classmate

2) How do you like your hot morning drink be? Milo, Horlicks, tea or coffee?
I normally go for Teh Si. If you dont know what is teh means it means (tea) i've got an infographic for you;)

Kopi* is coffee.
And for the ice/cold version, just add a "peng" behind.

3) What spread do you have on your toast? most common are a combination of kaya and butter, or sugar and butter. But for me, i love peanut butter :P
